SystemX & UPPF Maintenance & Aftercare

As with all things in life, SystemX Ceramic coatings and UPPF Paint protection films require some degree of maintenance in order to perform optimally. Please refrain from washing your vehicle with soapy water within the first 10 days, however, rinsing with water is okay as long as the surface is dried afterwards.

Washing your car at home

SystemX Coatings are extremely slick, so most surface contaminants will fail to adhere to your vehicles surfaces.

Minimizing rubbing, (especially with a dry towel) on the coating will ensure its longevity. A PH neutral soap can be used to remove bird droppings, bugs, and tree sap. Followed by wiping it off with a soft edge-less microfiber towel. While our coatings are more durable than others on the market, in order to achieve their full potential, it is imperative to avoid heavy handed, abrasive washing methods. Strictly avoid any brushes as these may introduce swirls into the finish of the coating.

Please avoid directly aiming any pressure washers at the edges of UPPF Paint protection film. This may cause lifting of the film. If this occurs, please contact us and we can fix any lifting that may occur.

Washing schedule

For best results the car should be washed on a bi-weekly basis to avoid excessive contamination build-up. Mild soaps such as Tenzi Snowfoam are recommended for use with these coatings.

Avoid high volume brush style car washes, and high PH detergent style cleaners.

Avoid washing in direct sunlight to minimize streaking, water spotting and swirling due to the sun heating the panels.

Wash from the top down leaving the dirtiest sections for last to avoid cross contamination.

Use two separate buckets, one for more dirty water and one for cleaner, fresher water for rinsing the mitt.

Washing methods

Standard home washing

Use a foam gun (optimal) or microfiber wash mitt to soap down the car. Rinse it off with a pressure washer (optimal) or hose. Dry with clean microfiber towels. Keep the ends of pressure washers a minimum of 2 feet away from the edges of PPF to avoid lifting.

Spray ‘n wash self-car washes

Select the high-pressure soap. Soap the car down (never use the provided brushes especially on the paint!). Rinse car off with the high-pressure rinse. Dry with clean microfiber towels.

Car washes

Touch-less car washes only. Never use a car wash with brushes! Never select the “spray wax” option.

Drying

Use a damp microfiber cloth to first dry the vehicle, followed by a second microfiber cloth to finish drying the vehicle. This process will give you the best results.

Always dry the vehicle completely and never leave to “air” dry. Tap water contains minerals that may leave deposits creating water spots.

Only use quality microfiber towels for best results and avoid aggressive wiping, allowing the material to absorb the water.

Spot removal

Never use aggressive products to polish the coating or remove surface contamination.

Never use excessive force to remove spots.

Bird droppings, tar, sap, etc. should be removed as soon as possible to avoid temporary staining or hardening on the coating. Any staining left behind from bird droppings will break down over a few days without affecting the coating.

After washing

Do not wax the coating. It is unnecessary and the wax will not bond to the coating. SystemX Renew is the recommended maintenance and aftercare product. Ask your local installer about purchasing and applying SystemX Renew.

While wax will not harm UPPF Paint protection films, our films are enhanced with an inbuilt platicoat ceramic coating, and wax will wield no advantages over this coating.

Automated washing

Always go to a touch free wash! Using an automated car wash with brushes will void the warranty and dull the coating. SystemX Coatings take up to a week to achieve full hardness. Please handle with care and do not wash the vehicle for the first week after application.

Annual inspections

Annual Inspections are recommended for ensuring the coating is maintained, and care for the vehicle is properly executed. Annual inspections should be carried out by an approved applicator within 30 days before the anniversary date of the last service to ensure peak performance. Although durable and long lasting, annual inspections ensure maximum gloss and protection from SystemX Coatings.
